Nothing brings you back to reality like the Monday after Mother's Day...am I right?
This past Sunday my boys treated me to sleeping in, coffee in bed, a new pair of birkenstocks (!!!) and an evening picnic in the park. It was the sweetest!
Mother's Day kicked off Friday when Lincoln brought home the sweetest little hand cutout and bracelet that he made at school for me. Those little school crafts the kids make for Mother's Day and Father's Day and really any holiday are just the sweetest! And of course, because he can't keep a surprise, he walked in the door from school and promptly told me he had a present for me and that I had to open it right away!
Fast forward to Sunday where I got to sleep in till 8!!! It doesn't sound late, but when your normal wake up call is around 5:45 am (when do they start to sleep in?!?!) 8 am seems like 11! All three of my boys snuck off to get me a coffee from a local coffee shop and brought it to me in bed. Once we were up, showered and had attended mass, we headed downtown so I could pick out my new birkenstocks (I have been wanting a pair for a year now!). Nordstrom's didn't have the color/style I wanted, so we went back home and I ordered them directly from the birkenstock store online. Hopefully they'll arrive this week!
It was a busy morning, and kiddos were getting fussy, so Lincoln and I laid down for a nap (more sleep!) while Kevin took Finn and Porter for a walk. After a long afternoon nap, we were ready for our picnic in the park! Kevin picked out all my favorites: Rose, Caprese, Apples and Sharp Cheddar and we enjoyed a fun little evening in the park before bringing the kiddos back home for bed time.
It was a wonderful Mother's Day!

Red, White and Blue!
Hello and Happy day after the 4th of July! I hope everyone enjoyed a fun filled holiday.
We stuck around in town this year since I had to work Monday and come back to work again on Wednesday, but we made the best of our 24 hours of freedom in the middle of the week.
The day started off gloriously when Kevin let me sleep in till 8:30 (and yes 8:30 is sleeping in #adulting). Once I was up, we dressed Lincoln for the splash pad and walked over to the park to enjoy some fun in the sun before the day got too hot. While tentative at first, he ended up loving the splash pad and spent a good hour running in and out of the water and trying to step on the water holes only to be squirted (repeatedly) in the face haha!
After the park, we headed back home for lunch, crossed of some household "to-do's" and a nap before heading back out for our evening 4th of July plans!
This year, we met up with some good friends to watch the fireworks from their apartment in Kendall Yards. Olmstead Park had a band and food trucks set up as well so we walked down there for some more park time play and dinner. We headed home before the band started to play, but there was plenty of festive fun including holiday ice cream sandwiches to enjoy before we settled in for the firework show put on in downtown.
Once the 15 minute show was over, we packed up as quickly as we could and headed home to go to bed with a busy work/school week ahead of us.
It was fun to stay local this year (although I think we'll try and hit up the island next year!) and see the big fireworks show put on by the city.
Happy Independence Day!!

Happy 4th of July!
Similar to last year, we headed to my parent's beach house to enjoy the 4th of July holiday. This year was even better than last because daddy got to be there! We were also joined by one of my besties which made it even more fun!
We had a blast eating tons of good food, drinking more than our fair share of cocktails and participating in the island parade! Little man even got to ride in a fire truck. Dream come true. While we had to drive back on the 4th because of work/school related commitments, there were fireworks Sunday evening as well, so we got to show little man what it's all about.
Below are a few pictures from the past weekend!
getting the wiggles out
snuggles are my favorite!
"neigh!" "neigh!" turning daddy into a horse
busy important work to do...collecting sticks!
papa time on the boat!

Father's Day 2016
A belated Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there! We celebrated our favorite dad and pop pop in style...
We greeted Lincoln's dadda with breakfast in bed, Sunday morning (avocado toast topped with a poached egg and bacon!) after letting him sleep in (till 9 ha!). After that we all got up, got dressed and headed out for a little walk around the neighborhood before heading out on our Father's Day adventures.
L and I surprised the hubby with a day of brewery tasting on the bluff! Greenbluff, WA has a few little breweries that have opened in the past couple of years and we wanted to check them out. We went to Big Barn Brewing (my favorite!) and 238 Brewing company.
It was a pretty picture perfect day and the barn looked so quaint with the blue sky and rolling fields in the background. They also had 16 beers on tap to try, which made for a happy husband. 238 Brewing was the cutest tap house I have ever been to and with 8 of their own beers on tap and 4 rotating visiting breweries, they had lots of options to try out as well! I was DD so only had a few sips here and there, but what I tried was definitely delish!
After a fun day on the bluff, we headed back into town to get ready for a big family dinner to celebrate both Lincoln's dadda and mine, pop-pop! We picked up yummy Italian Sausages from Sonnderen's and grilled them with peppers and onions, corn on the cob and homemade potato salad. We topped dinner off with homemade peanut butter cup ice cream sandwiches and let the guys watch Game 7 of the NBA finals. While we were bummed that Golden State lost (not really...go Trailblazers!!) it was a pretty great day.

Weekend Recap: Easter Addition
Happy Monday! This weekend was a busy one.
We started off with PE for Tots at our local gymnastics studio for the little one. L loved it! It was 50 minutes of pure joy. He got to run on a trampoline, balance on a balance beam and do a variety of obstacle courses. We're still learning how to follow the leader/directions, but I can tell he enjoyed it. That's great news for us as we have him signed up for the next 3 months of classes!
Easter Sunday was spent celebrating with family and we had a busy morning! So much so, that I was still cooking and in my pajamas when it was time to leave for mass with the family. I had to miss out so I could finish getting ready, and while I'm bummed about that, I was so excited to see Easter through L's eyes.
The Easter bunny arrived bright and early and left baskets for everyone along with eggs scattered throughout our yard. After collecting eggs and opening baskets, little man and husband went off to mass with the family while I finished cooking Smitten Kitchen's Ham, Cheese and Leek Egg Bake (it was so good!) Afterwards husband picked me up and we headed off for a yummy brunch with the rest of the fam!
That night, Kevin and I had a date night planned and we headed downtown for some drinks and a concert at The Knitting Factory. While the headliner was Greensky Bluegrass, we actually went to see the Shook Twins. They were so good! We watched them open and then headed over to the Davenport for a nightcap!
Overall it was a great weekend. Hope everyone has a good week!

Oh Christmas Tree! Oh Christmas Tree!
happy saturday everyone! today, our little family went out on our annual christmas tree hunt. the weather was perfect and we had so much fun! we headed up to hansen's farm at green bluff, and found the perfect tree. i have to say, this year has been the best yet, because little man is so intrigued by all things christmas!
hansen's farm was amazing. tons of u-cut christmas trees, free hot cocoa and coffee, free candy canes for the little ones and they let the little kiddos pick out a FREE ornament off their tree to take home with them. lincoln picked out a snow flake and it's already hanging on his very own mini christmas tree in his room.
after bringing the tree back, we got it up so we could spend the evening decorating it, listening to christmas music and watching christmas movies. MY FAVORITE!!!!
there are a number of christmas tree farms up at green bluff. if you're interested in checking them out, heres a link to all of them. we've been to dietz and now hansens, and i have to say, if you have a little one hansen's is definitely the way to go!.
