Lincoln James: 6 Months

How is my baby 6 months old already?! It feels like yesterday I was so over being pregnant and couldn't wait to meet my little guy, and now an entire half a year has gone by. I'm not ready for 6 months. This guy is weighing in at 16.4 lbs. He hasn't gained much this month because he spent pretty much all of January sick and at the doctor. We're hoping February brings a healthier month for our little man.

I am, however, loving my 6 month old little man. He is so engaging, has the best smile in the whole wide world and is 100% a mama's boy, and I am more than ok with that. (Ok, so maybe I wish he wasn't such a mama's boy when I'm trying to shower and he won't go to anyone else, but you know what I mean ;0p)

This month, like all other months has been the best and the hardest month yet. My little guy is officially in daycare, and I won't lie, it breaks my mama heart each and every day that I have to drop him off. I know he's in good hands. I know it's what is best for our family right now, but I die a little each day that I don't get to spend with him and it hurts knowing that someone else is getting to see so many of his "firsts" before I do. But, until we win the lottery (ha!) it's what we have to do right now.

Little man is officially sitting up all on his own and can feed himself his own bottle. He's also tried plenty of different fruits and veggies and is getting three small "solid" meals a day in addition to his formula. So far he's tried: carrots, butternut squash, avocado, peas, sweet potatoes, yams, apples, pears and bananas. In the coming weeks we're planning on introducing him to some green beans, mangoes, plums, peaches and nectarines. Husband can't wait till we can start feeding him proteins...(it must be a guy thing!)

We're still not loving tummy time but each month he gets better and better, and I'm beginning to think my little guy is going to walk before he ever tries to crawl. His absolute favorite toy in the whole world is the jumper/exersaucer (he LOVES to jump). He also LOVES sticking his hands in Porter's mouth, which grosses me out more than you know, but whatever makes the kid happy, right?

He's also been hit with a nasty cold this month that just won't go away (thanks a lot daycare) and he broke out in this awful awful rash that we still can't quite figure out. The doctor has us trying to switch up our laundry detergent and applying hydrocortisone for a limited time, but we'll see. The good news is that it doesn't seem to bother him at all, so hopefully it's more of a skin irritation than anything else.

I'm also pretty sure this little man of mine is teething hardcore and I wouldn't be surprised if we say a tooth or two pop through in the next month or so. I guess we'll just have to wait and see! It's made for some not so restful nights, but hopefully the whole teething process doesn't upset him too much.

All in all, Lincoln is such a happy little baby and I'm so lucky to be his mama. I can't wait to see what the next month brings! But I'm more than ok with time starting to slow way way down seeing as it's going by way to fast already.

Little man has his 6 month check up next week, but until we get the official numbers, here are a few quick stats:

height: we'll find out next week at his 6 month check up :)

weight: 16.4 lbs (up .4 lbs from last month!)

hates: being away from his mama ;0)

loves: his exersaucer/bouncer, solids, and sitting up like the biggest guy!

head: little man has full head control and is sitting up all by himself!

eats: loves carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, peas, apples, bananas, pears, and yams. he's not the biggest fan of avocado

sleeps: little man isn't sleeping well again. i'm not sure if it's because he misses me during the day while he's at daycare, or if it's because he's full on teething but he ends up in bed with me every night. i am one tired mama.
