Oh Christmas Tree! || 2019 Christmas Tree Hunt

The day after Thanksgiving we headed out on our annual Christmas Tree hunt! Each year we head up to Greenbluff to cut down our tree. We made our way up to Hansen's Christmas Tree Farm for bonfires, s'mores, tree hunting and hot cocoa on Friday.

This is the best farm if you have little ones. In addition to having the bonfire and s'mores set up right at the entrance, they have free hot cocoa and allow the kiddos to pick an ornament off a tree inside and take it home. Lincoln (and now Finn!) look forward to this every year.

A ton of photos from our day are below!

Christmas Tree Hunting 2018!

This past weekend we kicked off December the best way! We headed up to Greenbluff to count down our Christmas Tree! Kevin and I started this tradition the year we got married and we love taking the boys up too. Lincoln has been waiting to decorate since Thanksgiving was over so he was so excited!

Each year since Lincoln has been born, we've headed up to Hansen's. This is such a kid friendly place and makes the experience so fun for the little ones. They have a bonfire set up and give out goodies to make s'mores prior to heading out to get your tree. In addition, they serve free hot cocoa for little ones and let them pick a free ornament off a tree for them to take home. Lincoln looks forward to this every year!

I recently found out that you can actually get a permit to go into the forest and cut down your own Christmas tree for only $5, Griswold style. This is most definitely something I want to try and do next year!

For the time being, below are a few pictures from our weekend...next up is the Gingerbread Buildoff!

2017 Christmas Tree Hunt

I'm back with more festive fun! And fare warning...this is a long and photo heavy post!

We hustled back from the island after Thanksgiving late Friday evening (arriving home after 1 AM!) just so we could keep up with our annual post Thanksgiving Christmas tree hunt. We headed back up to Hansen's at Green Bluff, our favorite tree farm, to pick out the perfect tree!

You guys, this year is the best year yet! Lincoln finally really grasps the whole Christmas/Santa fun and he is so into it this year. He picked out our Christmas tree and of course helped Kevin "cut" it down. Once we had picked the perfect tree and tagged it for tree pick up, shaking and baling, we made our way back to the bonfire for s'mores and hot cocoa!

Hansen's is one of our favorite places to pick out our tree, not only because they have the best Christmas trees, but also because of the little extra's they throw in for the kiddos. They always have free hot cocoa and candy canes in addition to letting each little one pick an ornament off the tree to take home. This year they added s'mores around the bonfire which Lincoln loved!

After collecting our tree, we headed back home for an afternoon nap before all of the holiday decorating fun began. I pulled out our Christmas box, a tradition we started the first year Lincoln was born, and filled it with this year's Christmas jammies, a new movie Winnie the Pooh's Christmas, a new book, Llama Llama Holiday Drama, hot cocoa, marshmallows, and homemade Christmas Popcorn (recipe to come!). When Lincoln woke up from his nap, we were ready to get our holiday jam on. We played our Christmas Playlist and got to work, completing all of the Christmas decorations prior to settling in for a tasty leftover Thanksgiving Turkey Pot Pie, holiday movie and treats.

It was the perfect way to wrap up our weekend and kick off the Christmas season! We've got lots and lots of holiday activities planned for the next few weeks, so be sure to check back in for more holiday fun!

Merry and Bright!

While everyone is out battling the craziness that is Black Friday, our family heads up north to GreenBluff to cut down our Christmas Tree! It's the most fun tradition that Kevin and I started before we got married and now that we have L it's even better!

We've tried out a few places in the past, but we returned to Hansen's Tree Farm this year because it really is the best! They keep a fire burning to keep you warm when you come back from cutting down your tree. And there is the sweetest little shop where the little ones get to pick an ornament off the tree for free! Along with hot cocoa and candy canes. I think it's officially our favorite tree farm and I don't see us straying from here in the future.

This year was especially fun because L brought along his own little saw to "help" daddy. He was so cute marching through the trees determined to find the best one!

Below are photos from this year's trip and links to past trips are here and here.
