Mother's Day 2018

Nothing brings you back to reality like the Monday after Mother's Day...am I right?

This past Sunday my boys treated me to sleeping in, coffee in bed, a new pair of birkenstocks (!!!) and an evening picnic in the park. It was the sweetest!

Mother's Day kicked off Friday when Lincoln brought home the sweetest little hand cutout and bracelet that he made at school for me. Those little school crafts the kids make for Mother's Day and Father's Day and really any holiday are just the sweetest! And of course, because he can't keep a surprise, he walked in the door from school and promptly told me he had a present for me and that I had to open it right away!

Fast forward to Sunday where I got to sleep in till 8!!! It doesn't sound late, but when your normal wake up call is around 5:45 am (when do they start to sleep in?!?!) 8 am seems like 11! All three of my boys snuck off to get me a coffee from a local coffee shop and brought it to me in bed. Once we were up, showered and had attended mass, we headed downtown so I could pick out my new birkenstocks (I have been wanting a pair for a year now!). Nordstrom's didn't have the color/style I wanted, so we went back home and I ordered them directly from the birkenstock store online. Hopefully they'll arrive this week!

It was a busy morning, and kiddos were getting fussy, so Lincoln and I laid down for a nap (more sleep!) while Kevin took Finn and Porter for a walk. After a long afternoon nap, we were ready for our picnic in the park! Kevin picked out all my favorites: Rose, Caprese, Apples and Sharp Cheddar and we enjoyed a fun little evening in the park before bringing the kiddos back home for bed time.

It was a wonderful Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday and Happy Belated Mother's Day to all you mama's out there! I hope everyone had a wonderful, restful weekend surrounded by lots of sticky kiddo fingers making you breakfast in bed ;0)

We had a full and fun weekend! Friday evening, Lincoln and I headed over to our friends house for a playdate. There toddlers, babies, and even the older next door neighbor kids came over to get in on the action. The kids ran around the yard like the little crazies they are and the moms got to catch up over cheddar bunnies and wine #classy! After a mini rainstorm we brought the kiddos inside for a little movie and more playtime before calling it a night!

Saturday morning, Kevin treated me to several hours of quiet time, while he took Lincoln to gymnastics as well as run errands. They also booked me a massage! The best gift ever for a tired, stressed mama ;0)

Saturday afternoon we got to work on putting new floors into our top floor including the living room, hallway and both bedrooms! It's still a WIP, but they are coming along. That evening I got to go out with a few friends from high school while Kevin stayed home with Lincoln (they got a guys night out!)

Sunday morning I got to sleep in and was greeted with breakfast in bed! Coffee and a fruit bowl for the win. After lounging in bed for a bit with my boys, we got up and got to work on the floors again. Slowly but surely we are making progress.

Sunday evening ended with takeout (the best!) and a movie in bed with my two favorite guys. It was the perfect Mother's Day weekend. The festivities continue this evening when my parents and sisters come over for a Mother's Day/Birthday BBQ Monday evening.

Hope everyone had a very restful and fun weekend!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you beautiful mama's out there! today is my first official mother's day, since last year, little man was still just a bun in my ever growing oven ;0)

i want to take a moment to say a very special happy mother's day to three special mama's in my life. the first one, you can probably guess, is my own mama. she has been hands down the best mom a girl could ask for, even though like most mother/daughter duos we've had our trying moments ;0)

she has taught me how to be a great mom by showing me a wonderful example of one. she is always there to wipe our tears, laugh with us...heck she even taught me how to throw my first spit wad ;0) this past year she has not only been an amazing mom, she's been an even better nana. while husband has been away in New York working this year, she has been at my house almost every single day to lend a hand, or relieve me. this has meant so so so so much to me. lincoln loves his nana and it's such a joy to see his little face light up when she walks in the room. so, without boring you all to pieces, happy mother's day mom!!!! we love you more than you know!

the next mama is my big sister. she was the first one of us to become a mama, and has done an absolutely AMAZING job raising my niece Ocean all by herself. she's kind, loving, crafty, and knows how to have a good time. she's not afraid to get down and dirty with the little ones and truly gives everything she's got to everyone she comes in contact with. she's raised a smart, confident, fun little girl, who is becoming quite the strong-willed young woman. amy, you are the best mom to ocean, the best sister to me and the best aunt to lincoln. happy mother's day!!

the third special mama in my life is my mother in law. she's raised one heck of a young man who I'm lucky enough to call my husband. i hope that i can raise lincoln to be as kind, gentle, smart and loving of a man as his daddy is. chong gives everything she's got and loves her son like no other. she now shares that love with lincoln and myself, and we're so very lucky to have her in our lives. happy mother's day chong!

to all you mama's out there, new or seasoned, happy happy mother's day! i hope the people in your life are spoiling you rotten today! you deserve it!
