i'll be honest; this past month has been a doozy. ever since we started daycare, lincoln's little immune system has been beat up. he's been sick pretty much since january 1st with the exception of maybe 4 or 5 days and most recently has suffered from some mysterious virus that's given him a crazy high fever and has the doctors stumped.
we've spent the past few days in and out of the doctors, getting lab work done, chest x-rays and still no diagnosis. he's had to have his blood drawn twice and has had three rounds of anti-biotic shots. his white blood cell count is extremely high and a particular white blood cell, which is normally supposed to be around one or below has shot up to 15. the doctors are certain he's fighting some kind of infection, but whether or not it's viral or bacterial, they're not sure. they've ruled out strep, the flu, meningitis, pneumonia, kawasaki disease and mono. they're waiting to see if his blood cultures grown anything, and so far they haven't, but it could take up to a week to see any results, if it's bacterial at all. and after all this is over, we may or may not have a diagnosis. it's been frustrating to say the least.
most recently, we went on one of our walks over to the local park and he went on the swings for the very first time. he loved it!! it was so cute to see his little smile and he swung back and forth. we also tried out the slides (on mama's lap of course) and watched the ducks swim in the pond.
every month brings so many new milestones and it's such a joy to watch him grow. his little personality is shining through and he definitely has a stubborn streak! i can't wait to see what the next month brings!
here are a few quick stats:
height: 27 inches
weight: 16.15 lbs (up about .5 lbs from last month - those sickies have affected his appetite)
hates: being away from his mama ;0)
loves: his exersaucer/bouncer, solids, and sitting up like the biggest guy!
head: little man has full head control and is sitting up all by himself!
eats: new eats this month include green beans, broccoli, eggs and kale, yogurt teething biscuits, and hummus
sleeps: we started sleep training little man. he's able to put himself to bed all by himself, but we're still not sleeping through the night. i haven't tried to force the nap training and cutting out nigh time feedings yet because he's been sick and hasn't been eating as much during the day. we'll start weaning him off his night feedings once he's back to eating enough during the day.
